In this daily Bible reading Jesus continues to instruct His disciples before sending them on their way to preach the Gospel to the Jews. During His discussion, Jesus said something quite interesting. He said, “Do not think that I came to bring peace on the Earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother… A man’s enemies will be the members of his household.”
People think that Jesus’ message is one of peace. To those who will believe in Him, it is a message of peace. However, belief in Jesus has the effect of dividing people, even people in the same family. Not all people will believe in Jesus, actually only a few.
Believing in Jesus means to believe that the Bible is true. The Bible says it is wrong to murder an unborn child. The Bible also says that it is wrong to practice homosexuality. Furthermore, the Bible says that God hates divorce. With just these few examples one can see that the world is divided in its beliefs. The world embraces abortion, homosexual behavior, and divorce.
Standing for what the Bible tells us to do will bring instant friction and rejection from the world. Standing for God’s Truths will not bring peace. Rather, it will divide people. When Jesus returns to the Earth as King, He will then unify the world to believe God’s Truths. In Jesus’ Kingdom, the world will no longer be divided.
