In this daily Bible reading Jesus condemns the Pharisees who were in authority but were evil. Jesus said the Pharisees wanted honor and praise from the people, but they were not good and honorable themselves. They exploited their positions for their own benefit, and they harmed the people. Jesus said, “These will receive greater condemnation.”
This statement tells me that there are varying degrees of punishment in Hell. It also tells me that receiving more knowledge of God’s Truths holds a person more accountable to abide by those Truths.
Jesus said, “To him who has been given more, more is required.” Therefore, as we receive more of God’s Truths, we must be more diligent in demonstrating our belief in those Truths.
