In these passages is the account of a Pharisee, Nicodemus, conversing with Jesus at night, seeking God’s Truths. Jesus told him that one cannot enter the Kingdom of God unless he or she is ‘born again,’ born of the Spirit.

One is born of the Spirit when he or she repents of their sins and believes in Jesus Christ. They are then given the Spirit of God to be within them. But like a baby, they are not immediately given knowledge and understanding. They must rather grow in the Spirit, just as a baby grows in body and mind.

Born-again believers are given a hunger for God’s Truths. They become inspired to read and study the Bible, which is the Word of God. Hence, they are guided into all righteousness and taught by God’s Holy Spirit in how to live.

The Bible says that believers are given the Fruits of the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These valuable characteristics grow in the believer. Believers live a rich and full life and will enter God’s Kingdom when they die.
