In this daily Bible reading is the account of Jesus appearing to His disciples a third time after He had risen from the dead. This appearance was at the sea of Tiberius, in Galilee.
Jesus asked Peter three times if Peter loved Jesus. Peter said ‘yes’ three times. Jesus instructed Peter to “Tend My lambs;” “Shepherd my sheep;” and “Tend my sheep.” In so doing, Jesus appointed Peter to lead His Church and care for the believers: to guide them and protect them.
Peter was given a mission. Jesus also implied that Peter would eventually be killed while being faithful to his mission. Peter was faithful to the end and died a death that glorified God.
The Bible says, “Those who endure to the end will be saved.” They will be saved from spiritual death. They will be allowed into Heaven. Peter ‘endured to the end.’ I believe he is in Heaven with Jesus, today.
