In this daily Bible reading the writer says, “It is appointed for man once to die and after this comes judgment.” I believe that our lives on the Earth are a period of preparation and testing for our eternal destination. As the Bible passage indicates, we only get this one chance. Some world religions teach that people are reincarnated after they die, and they live multiple lives. The Bible says that this is not the situation. We die once. Then, God will judge us for our actions and choices during our lives.
All people are given an opportunity to believe God’s Truths. Some people believe. However, most do not. The Bible says that only a few will be saved to Eternal Life beyond death. Most will spend eternity in pain and anguish in a place the Bible calls Hell. The Bible says that those who obtain Eternal Life after they die will live in a place the Bible calls Heaven or the Kingdom of God.
The Bible also says that God knows those who will be saved. He knows those who will choose to believe. The Bible calls these people God’s elect. The Bible also says that nobody on Earth knows who these people are. God calls some people to believe in Jesus Christ, who is the only way to Salvation. The Bible says, “Many are called, but few are chosen.”
Being called to believe in Jesus is the beginning of a journey toward Heaven. It is not an easy journey. One must be firmly anchored in the Bible, the Word of God, in order to survive this journey. The Bible says that Jesus is the living Word of God. We must therefore be attached to or anchored in Jesus if we want to go to Heaven.
