In this daily Bible reading the writer speaks of the new priesthood of Jesus Christ. Prior to Jesus becoming our High Priest before God, the Jewish religion had many priests. They were replaced when they died. Therefore, many priests were needed. Jesus is our eternal high priest. He will never die. Jesus will intervene to God the Father for us eternally.
This highly desirable situation is conditional. It is conditional on our continued belief in Jesus. Jesus will only intercede for those who are His: those who have repented of their sins and turned to Jesus to guide them. Accordingly, our belief must be genuine. It must be evidenced by the lives we lead. We cannot merely profess our belief. We must demonstrate our belief.
The Bible also says that our lives must produce good fruit. Jesus said to his followers, “I am the vine and you are the branches. Without Me, you cannot bear fruit.” Therefore, we must be connected to Jesus to bear good fruit in our lives. How do we do that? We must read the Bible to find out how to live.
The Bible says that Jesus is the living Word of God. One could rightly say that being attached to the Bible is being attached to Jesus. I believe that the Bible is truly essential to our Salvation. However, one must approach the Bible with Faith and believe that it is true. One cannot understand the Bible without this mindset. Wonderful Truths are revealed when we believe.
