In these passages Paul speaks to the Galatian church which had evidently started to depart from the pure Gospel of Jesus Christ. New rules and requirements were added and said to be necessary for Salvation.
This is a tendency in religion; to add rules and restrictions that are not found in the Word of God. I believe that religion has corrupted the Word of God, the Bible, throughout the ages. I also believe that Satan has done his most effective and deceptive work in religion.
Religion holds people in bondage, especially those who do not know the Bible. Additionally, religion makes worship a mechanical ritual that people think will save them. It won’t. Only true belief in Jesus Christ will save people.
The Bible says that Jesus is the living Word of God. The Bible is the Word of God. Therefore, believing in Jesus means believing the Bible. Additionally, we cannot believe in Jesus unless we know who He is. The only way to know who Jesus is, is to read the Bible.
We must also trust Jesus to guide us on the pathway to Heaven. The pathway to Heaven is only described in the Bible.
I believe the Bible is essential to our Salvation journey. For only through the Bible can we know how to live our lives. The world will not teach us. Religion will not teach us.
The Bible says, “Trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding. In all ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight.” God, Himself, will teach us through His Word.
