In this daily Bible reading Paul tells the Colossians they have been reconciled with God through Jesus’ atoning death on the cross. But Paul says that this is conditional on their continued Faith in Jesus Christ. Paul said to them that God will consider them Holy and blameless, “If indeed you continue in the Faith firmly established and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the Gospel that you have heard.”
Our Salvation depends on how we live our lives. It is not guaranteed. The Bible says that ‘we are saved by God’s grace through Faith and not by good deeds.’ However, genuine Faith will be evidenced by good deeds and a life lived in obedience to God.
Continued Faith in Jesus is necessary for our Salvation. It is not a one-time proclamation. Our Faith will increase with time as we encounter trials in our lives. Our Faith will guide us to respond correctly during those trials. Additionally, our true Faith will give as a hunger for the Word of God, the Bible, so that we may know Jesus and draw closer to Him.
Our lives will become rich and full. Furthermore, God will give us the ability to endure and remain on the path that leads to Heaven. God will also give us peace and joy to sustain us on the way. It is a process. It is a journey. However it can only be successfully done with the Word of God to guide us.
