In these passages is the account of the Apostle Philip being sent by the Holy Spirit to preach the Gospel to an Ethiopian eunuch, an official in the court of Candace, Queen of Ethiopia.
The eunuch had come to Jerusalem to worship. He was reading from the book of Isaiah as he was riding in his chariot. The eunuch believed in God, as evidenced by his going to Jerusalem to worship God.
The eunuch invited Philip to sit with him to explain the passages he was reading. Philip opened the eunuch’s eyes by demonstrating that the passage he was reading spoke of Jesus. This incident demonstrated the linkage between Scripture and Jesus Christ.
When one believes in Jesus, Scripture becomes clear and we can understand it. One cannot understand the Bible without believing in Jesus.
The Bible says that Jesus is the Living Word of God. We are enabled to know Jesus through the Bible when we believe in Him.
