In this daily Bible reading is the account of Peter and John being put in jail for proclaiming that Jesus was resurrected from the dead and that Jesus is the Christ of God. The next day they were brought before the Jewish rulers, elders, scribes and Annas the high priest.
The Council ordered Peter and John to stop preaching and speaking in the name of Jesus. However, Peter said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to give heed to you rather than to God, you be the judge.”
Peter was intent on obeying God rather than the religious rulers. Peter knew he would be persecuted, but he was willing to risk his life to preach about Jesus. He trusted God to save him and help him.
This must be my attitude as I seek to serve God. Jesus said that the world hated Him, and it will hate His followers. I must expect to be ridiculed and hated for following Jesus. However, I must be obedient to God. The Bible says that I must ‘endure to the end to be saved.’ With God’s help I will do so.
