In this daily Bible reading is the account of Paul arriving in Rome. Technically, Paul was a prisoner, but he was allowed his own quarters. He was free to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ for two years to all who came to him.

Many Jews came to listen to Paul.  Paul proved to them from their own Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ, the Messiah, who was prophesied. Some believed, but others would not believe. Paul quoted the Prophet Isaiah who said, “Many will keep on hearing but will not understand; and will keep on seeing, but will not perceive; for the heart of this people has become dull and with their ears they scarcely hear and they have close their eyes.”

There are many in this world who cannot believe because their heart is not receptive to God’s Truths. One cannot understand the Word of God unless one has the Faith to believe that it is Truth. That Faith must be granted by God. He knows those who will believe, and He knows those who will not believe. Indeed we must be prepared to believe.

\We must repent of our sins and truly desire not to sin anymore. God also grants repentance. If you have been called to repent and to believe feel fortunate for you have been called to a path that may lead you to Heaven. However, one must persevere to stay on that path. It is not easy.

The Bible says that ‘many are called but few are chosen.’ Pray that you are of his elect and that you will be chosen to go to Heaven.
