This Proverb says, “Like a bad man who throws firebrands, arrows and death, so is the man who deceives his neighbor and says, “was I not joking.” The person described in this Proverb is one who causes another person harm and suffering. Then, that person excuses their own behavior by saying they were only joking and didn’t mean to cause harm. However, that person really was intending to cause harm.
A person like this is purposely destructive to others. They delight in hurting others and witnessing another person’s pain and anguish. When they get caught they try to brush it away by saying they didn’t intend to cause harm. However, that was their real intent.
A person like this is truly an evil person. This is a person that we should avoid. The sad reality is that the world has many people like this. They are difficult to identify, and may appear to be very sincere and pleasant. Therefore, we should be careful in what we reveal about ourselves to another person. Trust is something that should be gained over a period of time. A person’s true nature will eventually reveal itself.
