This Proverb says, “A wise man is strong, and a man of knowledge increases power. For by wise guidance you will wage war, and in the abundance of counselors there is victory.” This Proverb was written when war was commonplace. It says that a leader who is planning war does not make good decisions in isolation. He makes good strategic decisions after conferring with counselors who he trusts. His decisions are more sound after considering such counsel. Those decisions will have a better chance of leading to victory.
This Proverb can also be applied to making our daily decisions. We should approach challenges with good counsel. First, we should seek the best counsel, God’s counsel. We should not make major decisions without first praying to God for His guidance. Then, we should seek the advice of those we trust.
One of the main benefits of being a believer is that we become members of the Church, the collective of those who believe in Jesus Christ. We will then associate with people who believe and trust in the Word of God. We should only seek counsel from those we trust who are grounded in the Word of God. Decisions made with such counsel will have a far better chance of providing victory in our lives.
