In this daily Bible reading Paul tells the Galatian church, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. The one who sows to his own flesh shall from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the spirit, shall from the spirit reap Eternal Life.” We see much corruption in the world today, and many people are afflicted with disease or injury. Some do not even live a full life, which the Bible says should be 70 to 80 years.
I believe that much of the pain, suffering and early death in this world is due to sin. Most people, I believe, ‘sow to the flesh’ being focused on physical pleasure. Not many ‘sow to the spirit.’ They don’t walk in obedience to God. In fact, many or most do not even believe in God, or they ‘believe in vain.’
The Bible says that we cannot break free of bondage to our fleshly pursuits unless and until we believe in Jesus Christ. However, the Bible also says that no person can believe in Jesus unless God draws them to Jesus. So then, how can we believe in Jesus if that is true?
The Bible says, “The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom.” Therefore, our first step toward Jesus is to believe in God. We must have a healthy fear of God for what He is capable of doing to us. Once we believe in God, then our eyes and ears start to be opened to God’s presence. We will begin to perceive God’s Truths. At some point God will open our hearts to believe in Jesus Christ.
