In this daily Bible reading Paul draws a comparison between the Law given to Moses and the Salvation found through Jesus Christ. He says that ‘the letter (Law) kills, but the Spirit gives life.’ The Law given Moses is necessary because it makes us aware of sin and what we need to avoid. However, no person can keep the Law perfectly. So, all are condemned for transgressing against God.
Belief in Jesus is the only remedy. This belief gives life, not death. Belief in Jesus gives us understanding. Living only by the Law puts a veil over our eyes. We are not able to perceive the things of God until the veil is removed from our eyes by our belief in Jesus.
The Bible says that Jesus is the living Word of God. The Word of God is given to us today in the form of the Bible. Belief in Jesus enables us to understand the Bible. When we believe in Jesus, our minds and hearts are open to God’s Truths. It is as if a veil is removed so that we can see.
We must believe that Jesus is the only way to Salvation and that real life is only found in Jesus. We must believe that Jesus is the Truth. Jesus said, “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” When we believe this, the Light of Jesus will illuminate the path we must walk in this life in order to be allowed into Heaven.
