In this daily Bible reading Paul tells Timothy that “in later times some will fall away from the Faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons…men who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods.” I believe that religion has corrupted God’s Truth has over the ages. The Roman Catholic Church is an excellent example of this.
The Roman Emperor, Constantine created the Catholic Church about 300 years after Jesus died. Constantine had become a Christian through the influence of his Christian mother, Helena. At the time, Rome was a pagan nation which worshiped idols that represented demons. It was a very superstitious nation.
Constantine combined paganism and Christianity to create the Roman Catholic Church. This compromised form of Christianity was more acceptable to the pagan people. This is still true today. People seem to prefer a compromised form of Christianity.
Thinking of Paul’s words, it is interesting to note that Catholic priests aren’t allowed to be married. Additionally, Catholic members are told to abstain from eating meat on certain days.
Roman Catholicism has led many people away from pure Faith in Jesus Christ. Over the years it has prevented the people from understanding the Bible. For centuries the Bible was only written in Latin. Tragically, the Catholic Church persecuted and murdered men who attempted to translate the Bible into English.
I believe that Satan has done his most destructive work in religion. Satan has clearly influenced this organization.
