In this daily Bible reading Paul tells Timothy that ‘God our Savior desires all men to be saved. He wants them all to ‘come to the knowledge of the Truth.’  This raises the following question.  How can we reconcile the concepts of ‘election’ and ‘free will?’  The Bible says that God has elected some people to be saved. Not all people are God’s elect. In fact, the Bible says that ‘only a few will be saved.’  The Bible also says that we have free will to choose between good and evil.  God knows those who will choose to faithfully live their lives being guided by the Word of God. He also knows those who will turn away from the Truth and those who will not accept the Truth at all.

Those who are called to believe in Jesus Christ should feel very blessed. However, they must continue in their Faith to be saved. The Bible says that ‘many are called but few are chosen.’ It is very possible to have a temporary belief in Jesus Christ. However, God’s chosen will sustain their belief. They won’t abandon their belief when trials occur in their lives.

The Bible says that we must ‘work out our salvation with fear and trembling.’ The Bible also says that ‘it is difficult to be saved.’ The only way to successfully manage trials in our lives is to be firmly anchored in God’s Word, the Bible. The Bible is our only sure guidance to Salvation and an eternity in Heaven.
