In this daily Bible reading Paul tells the Corinthian Church the following:  “I say brethren, the time has been shortened, so that from now on those who have wives should be as though they had none; and those who weep as though they did not weep; and those who rejoice, as though they did not rejoice; and those who buy, as though they did not possess; and those who use the world, as though they did not make full use of it; for the form of this world is passing away.”

Paul is telling the church to have an eternal perspective on things. Our lives, possessions, and relationships here on Earth are temporary.  Nothing that we have here on Earth will be with us after we die.  We entered this world alone, and we will leave this world alone.  What matters is our relationship with God.

Therefore, our time here on the Earth should be spent wisely.  We should cultivate a good relationship with God as we live our lives.  Additionally, should walk according to God’s guidance for us.  Therefore, we must know how God wants us to live.

How can we discern how God wants us to live?  There is only one way.  The Bible is the only pure and complete source of God’s guidance for us.  Therefore, the Bible needs to become an integral part of our lives if we want to please God and be allowed into Heaven after we die.
