In this daily Bible reading the Lord speaks to Zechariah about the Lord’s future occupation of Jerusalem. He tells Zechariah that many nations will join themselves to the Lord in that day. In these passages, the Lord also says, “I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.”
The Bible says that to God a day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as a day. The Bible also says that Jesus will return to be King of the Earth for 1000 years. I believe that this thousand-year reign of Jesus Christ is “the day of the Lord.” Removing the iniquity of the land will take more time than one 24-hour day. Nations joining themselves to the Lord and becoming His people will take more than one 24-hour day.
I believe that when Jesus returns, He will set up His government, and He will teach the people God’s Truths. He will be the most incredible teacher the world has ever known. Many hearts will be turned to Jesus, and nations will walk according to the Word of God. This thousand-year period will be the final time of cleansing the world of sin and preparing people to dwell in Heaven for all eternity.
