In this daily Bible reading the Apostle Paul writes that the Spirit of God indwells believers. This distinguishes them from non-believers who do not have the Spirit of God. It is God’s Holy Spirit who motivates us to do right and not give ourselves over to sin. The Bible says, “If anyone does not have the spirit of Christ he does not belong to God.”
The Spirit of God gives us life, and God considers us righteous if we have His Spirit. The Bible says, “The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him in order that we may also be glorified with Him.”
The Bible says that believers will suffer in this life. The world hates true believers, and believers will be persecuted. True believers will have to endure tribulation on their journey to Heaven. However, these tribulations will be minor compared to the rewards in Heaven. We must therefore focus on our goal, Heaven. We will then be able to endure the trials we face.
Jesus Christ will help us to remain on the narrow pathway to Heaven. He will not leave us nor forsake us if we steadfastly believe in Him. Therefore, we must strengthen ourselves by the Word of God which will encourage us and guide us along the way. The Bible must be our ‘daily bread and our spiritual food’ to sustain us and to guide us.
