In this daily Bible reading the Apostle John is told of the events surrounding the beginning and end of the 1000-year rule of Jesus Christ. In the beginning, Satan will be bound up and thrown into an abyss so that he cannot deceive the nations. True followers of Jesus Christ, who had been killed for their belief in Jesus, will be raised from the dead. They will reign with Jesus for 1000 years.
The rest of the people who have died from the beginning of time will be raised from the dead at the end of the 1000 years to stand before the ‘great throne judgment’ of God. Books will be opened before God. One of the books is called ‘the book of life.’ God will judge each person for their deeds during their lifetime here on Earth.
The Bible says that if their names are not found in ‘the book of life’ they will be thrown into a lake of fire where they will spend eternity. The Bible says that these people will feel the flames and the accompanying pain for all eternity. They will not cease to exist, and they will be aware of their situation. What a horrible existence.
Many people do not believe what the Bible says, and they reject it. In so doing they are laying the foundation for eternal agony in a lake of fire. I find it amazing that people are willing to take such a risk in rejecting the Word of God. Now is the time to turn to God before it is too late. Once you die, it will be too late.
