In this daily Bible reading the Apostle John sees a vision of a woman with a crown of 12 stars who was about to give birth to a child. There was a dragon waiting to devour the child. The woman gave birth to a male child who, the Bible says, will rule all the nations with a rod of iron.
I believe the woman in this vision is Israel. The crown of 12 stars represents the 12 tribes of Israel. The Dragon is Satan, and the child is Jesus. The Bible says that Satan rebelled against God and was cast down to the Earth with a myriad of angels who followed Satan. Satan’s goal is to destroy Israel and Jesus Christ. However, God has protected and prospered Israel. Furthermore, Jesus was taken to Heaven after Jesus’ death and resurrection.
I believe that Satan has been the root cause of Israel turning away from God throughout the centuries. Satan is still attempting to keep Israel from God, and he has been quite successful in this endeavor. Israel had Jesus crucified, and Israel doesn’t yet acknowledge Jesus to be God’s instrument of Salvation for mankind. However, Israel soon will realize their mistake. The Bible says, “They will look on Him who they have pierced and weep.” When Jesus returns to the Earth Israel will recognize Jesus as the Messiah, the Savior of the world. Satan will have lost his war with God.
