Psalm 97 speaks in part about the benefits of living rightly before God. It says, “Light is sown like seed for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.” When we choose to turn from a sinful life and believe in Jesus Christ, God unlocks His Word for us. We are then able to understand what is written.
However, the Bible cannot be totally understood in a short period of time. We can spend a lifetime reading the Bible and never totally understand what God is saying to us.
God unlocks His Truths to us gradually. As our Faith grows, our understanding grows. This process will continue throughout our lives.
The Bible says that Jesus embodies the Word of God. He is the living Word of God. Jesus said to His disciples, “Unless you eat my body you have no part with Me.”
Eating Jesus’ body means to spiritually ingest the Word of God. The Bible therefore is spiritual nourishment for us. We gain spiritual nourishment from reading the Bible. To become spiritually healthy, we should read the Bible for the rest of our lives.
