In these passages David expresses his need for God during challenging and painful moments in David’s life. David writes, “I am afflicted and needy; Hasten to me! O God! Thou art my help and my deliverer; O Lord do not delay.” It seems that during these times David urgently needed God’s help.
God always helped David. However, God’s help sometimes did not occur when David wanted it to occur. God has his own schedule. However, He always worked for David’s well-being.
Sometimes it seems that God wants us to suffer for a period before He helps us. These times can be very painful and challenging. It is difficult to be patient and wait for God. However, that is the best thing to do. The Bible says, “Wait on the Lord.” If we get impatient and try to solve our problems in a sinful Way, things will not work out well.
King Saul lost his throne because he was impatient and didn’t wait for the Lord. Saul offered sacrifices before going to battle rather than waiting for Samuel to arrive and offer sacrifices, as God had commanded Saul. Not waiting for God can produce terrible results. Therefore, we must be patient and endure.
