In this Psalm, God indicates that He doesn’t want people to worship Him with ritualistic sacrifices. Rather, He wants people to worship Him from their hearts. God says, “He who offers a sacrifice of thanksgiving honors me; and to him who orders his way aright, I shall show the Salvation of God.” Jewish worship of God consisted of ritualistic sacrifices and observing specific feast days throughout the year. It was a mechanical form of worship mandated by Jewish law. The people’s hearts were far from God.

The Bible says that people are to worship God in Spirit and in Truth. Their worship should come from the heart. Their worship should indicate their love for God.

The Bible says that our love for God is evidenced by the lives we lead. Our love for God is evidenced by our obedience to God’s guidance for us. God’s guidance for us is in the Bible. It is found nowhere else.

Therefore, we should live according to how the Bible tells us to live.  We should do so with the attitude of wanting to please God.  That is what God desires from us.  In return, God will bless us.
