In this Psalm we are reminded that our possessions and riches here on Earth are temporary. They will not accompany us when we die. The Psalmist writes, “Do not be afraid when a man becomes rich, when the glory of his house is increased. For when he dies, he will carry nothing away.”
This world is populated by both rich and poor people. The rich people live quite well and may see themselves as superior to the poor people. The poor people may see the rich people as superior and are intimidated by them. However, when we die, we will all be equal in our wealth status. We will no longer be rich or poor. However, we will be separated according to God’s standards.
Whether we are rich or poor does not matter. What matters is what we believe during our life here on Earth. What matters is how we live our lives.
Those who believe in Jesus and live their lives according to the Word of God will be allowed into Heaven. Those who do not believe in Jesus will not go to Heaven. They will eternally exist in torment and misery.
Therefore, we shouldn’t focus on becoming rich and powerful during our lives. We should rather focus on Jesus Christ and live our lives according to the Word of God.
