This Psalm was written by Korah, a priest. Korah recognized that God was in control. Moreover, he recognized that God protected those God favored, those who trusted God. Korah said, “For I will not trust in my bow, nor will my sword save me. But Thou hast put to shame those who hate us.” When Israel left Egyptian captivity and entered the promised land, God fought for them. Israel defeated their enemies who were stronger than they. Their victories were due to God fighting for them. Without God’s help Israel would have been defeated.
Israel’s early victories caused Israel to place their trust in God. Israel prospered because of their belief and trust in God. However, later when Israel was prosperous, they turned away from God. God then removed His blessings.
America’s history is similar. When America was first established, America trusted in God for help. God did help America win the Revolutionary war. God then helped to establish America. America trusted in God and prospered.
However, in their prosperity America turned away from God. Today, America is basically a godless nation. As a result, God’s blessings are being removed. The Bible indicates that this decline will continue until America is no longer a strong and prosperous nation.
