This Proverb says, “He who plans to do evil, men will call him a schemer.” The word schemer is usually associated with a person involved in making secret or underhanded plans. A schemer is a person who makes insidious plans in order to deceive others. A schemer has selfish motives and usually finds a way to get what they want.
The bottom line is that the word schemer does not apply to a good and upright person. It applies to a person who secretly plans to do evil, a person with bad intentions. A schemer may be intelligent. However, a schemer is a bad person.
A person who walks rightly before God is not a schemer. This person lives according to the Word of God. The Word of God, the Bible, does not support evil intent. In fact, the Bible says that God will not hear the prayers of a person who harbors sin in their heart. God will not hear the prayers of those with selfish intentions who plan to deceive others in order to get what they want.
Therefore we should search our hearts to see if there is any scheming tendencies within us. The Bible says that our motives are all important. Sometimes we can deceive ourselves into thinking our motives are good when they are not.
