This Proverb says, “He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but he who walks wisely will be delivered.” The Bible describes a fool as a person who does not believe in God. A fool does not believe God exists. Therefore, a fool does not have any foundation or guidance for making decisions. A fool makes their decisions based on their own emotional bent. They are guided by their emotions of the moment. Therefore a fool’s decisions usually result in damage, destruction, or failure.

A wise person, on the other hand, is one who believes in God.  A wise person makes their decisions based on guidance found in the Word of God, the Bible. The Bible tells us how to live our lives. It will give us guidance in every aspect of our lives. Those who make their decisions with such sound guidance will have success. Their decisions will result in good things for them and for the people around them.

A wise person is able to resist responding to their emotions because they have self-control. They think before they respond. They choose their words carefully, knowing the powerful effect their words may have on others.

A wise and sure-footed person will enjoy much success in this world. They will successfully navigate the trials in their life. More importantly, they will remain on the pathway will lead them to Heaven after they die.
