This Proverb says, “The stone is heavy and the sand weighty, but the provocation of a fool is heavier than both of them.” The Bible defines a fool as a person who does not believe in God. The Bible says, “The fool has said in his heart there is no God.” Such a person, therefore, does not possess the quality of self-restraint.

Fools are not influenced by God’s guidance, which teaches us to have self-restraint. Therefore, they are only limited by their own self desires. In other words, they have no self-imposed limits on their behavior. Therefore, these people can be cruel or heartless toward others.

If a person provokes a fool to anger, the fool’s response can be cruel and without limits. This may be difficult for a believer to understand, because the believer is not cruel and heartless.

Therefore, fools may attempt to inflict severe damage on the person who provokes them. Their damage may be physical or emotional.

We see evidence of this when young people are degraded by others through social media. There are accounts of young people committing suicide because others in social media degraded them. Young people who degraded them to the point of suicide most likely are not even sorry for what they have done. How tragic.
