This Proverb says, “A prudent man sees evil and hides himself. The naive proceed and pay the penalty.” A prudent person is one who avoids evil situations. They avoid situations that will lead to damage or destruction. However, to avoid evil one must see evil. A person cannot avoid evil unless they correctly identify it.
How then does a person gain the ability to discern good and evil? There is only one way to recognize evil. A person must know what God identifies as evil. This vital information is only found in the Word of God, the Bible. There is no other worldly source that will correctly separate good from evil.
The world is steeped in evil and deception. That is because Satan is the spiritual ruler of the Earth. God placed Satan and his demons on the Earth because they rebelled against God. However, they serve a vital purpose for God. They help God to separate the ‘wheat from the chaff’, the good from the bad.
Satan and his demons try to corrupt people By tempting them to sin. In so doing they help identify those who will be faithful to God and those who will not. Their efforts serve to identify those who truly believe in God and live their lives according to God’s Word, the Bible.
The Bible says that Satan’s efforts will increase as the end times draw near. Those who believe in God will be persecuted and even put to death. However, those who successfully persevere and resist Satan’s efforts will be saved from eternal destruction in Hell. They will be allowed into Heaven for all eternity.
