This Proverb says, “A lying tongue hates those it crushes, and a flattering mouth works ruin.” A person who lies and speaks flattering words to others does so for personal gain. They are not concerned for others. They are self-centered. The Bible characterizes such a person as evil.
Such people cause much destruction in the lives of others, but they do not care. To them other people are tools to further their own interests. Their successes are at the expense of those around them.
The Bible says that we are to love God first. We are also to love our neighbors as ourselves. We are to treat others with care and be concerned for their welfare. Furthermore, we are to do so even when it is inconvenient. We are to do so even when it doesn’t seem to serve our own purpose.
When we behave in such a manner so as to love others, we will be helping ourselves. We will also have a good reputation. Our friends will also be inclined to support and help us if we are in need.
That is truly the essence of strong community. A strong community is characterized by love and support. God will bless such a community. God will also bless us for obeying His Word.
