This Proverb says, “Like an earthen vessel with silver dross are burning lips and a wicked heart.” There are some people in the world who speak with eloquent and smooth speech professing love. However, inwardly they are filled with evil thoughts and intentions. Their purpose is to paint a false picture of themselves, so that others will not know who they truly are.
Unfortunately, many of these people occupy positions of leadership in America and in other countries. They deceive the masses who go along with their wicked agendas. Unfortunately, many people are deceived.
It is difficult to discern a person’s true motives when their speech is inconsistent with their character. However, there is a way to do so. We can observe their actions. We can also observe the results of their decisions.
The Bible says, that ‘a bad person produces bad fruit and a good person produces good fruit.’ The Bible also says, “Beware of the false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles are they? So every good tree produces good fruit, but the bad tree produces bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit nor can a bad tree produce good fruit.”
Therefore we must be discerning in our appraisal of our leaders. We must not be totally influenced with their words. Rather, we should observe their behavior. We should appraise the results of their decisions. Then, we will know if their words and character are truly aligned.
