This Proverb says, “Have you found honey? Eat only what you need, lest you have it in excess and vomit it.” As this Proverb says, it is possible to have too much of a good thing. That is true of many things. It is especially true of wealth.
Many people think it would be great to win the lottery and instantly have millions of dollars. However, most people would not know how to manage their quickly acquired wealth. Additionally, it would multiply a person’s troubles and worries.
A person should seek moderation in their lives. It is certainly not good to be poor. It is also not good to be excessively rich. The Bible says, “Let me neither be too rich nor too poor, and let me not be deceived.” It is certainly good to have enough money to pay the bills, provide for our family and make our lives comfortable. Having more than that is really unnecessary.
As the saying goes. “Money cannot buy happiness.” It cannot. Happiness comes from within us. It comes from living rightly before God. It comes from believing in Jesus Christ. When we believe in God and Jesus Christ, God’s Holy Spirit will reside in us. We then gain the fruits of the Holy Spirit. One of those fruits is ‘joy.’ That is true joy. That is lasting joy. It has far more value than all the riches in the world.
