This Proverb says, “The prudent sees the evil and hides himself, but the naive go on, and are punished for it.”

What is a naive person? A naive person is one who lacks experience, wisdom, or good judgment. As a result, they are easily misled.

On the other hand the prudent person is one who is characterized by wisdom and discretion. This person proceeds carefully in life and avoids unnecessary risks.

A naive person is one who is more likely to be controlled by their sinful behavior. As a result, they may pursue a sinful life without knowing or realizing the consequences. They may well go down this path and suffer the consequences of their behavior.

On the other hand, a prudent person will be aware of the consequences of sinful behavior. They may be tempted to sin. However, they will control themselves. In so doing they will avoid God’s punishment.

How then does a person become prudent? A person becomes prudent through knowledge of God’s Truths. The Bible will make a prudent person aware of how to live their lives.

King David wrote in a Psalm, “Thy word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” The Bible is a lamp that illuminates or reveals the spiritual dangers we may encounter. It is also a light that tells us how to avoid spiritual obstacles. Therefore, the Bible should be our daily companion as we proceed through life.
