This Proverb says, “The sluggard does not plow after the autumn, so he begs during the harvest and has nothing.” The Bible calls the lazy and unmotivated person a sluggard. Among other things, this person does not think ahead or prepare for their future. As a result, they become poor and needy.
There are many poor and needy people in this world. They become so for many reasons. Some may be victims of their environment. Others may be poor and needy because of their choices.
Today in America there is a destructive drug problem. Many are becoming addicted to drugs. In so doing, they lose their motivation to work and provide for their basic needs to survive. Many of these people are living in tents In and around the cities. Many of these people beg for money on our street corners.
One might wonder why this is happening in America today. I believe it is because they have no spiritual foundation in their lives. They were not given such a foundation in their families, and so they have no motivation to make the right choices in their lives.
People with no spiritual foundation become emotionally dysfunctional. Looking for happiness they turn to drugs to feel better. This begins a downward spiral in their lives.
The only solution for America is to return to belief in God. America once trusted in God. It needs to do so again.
The American government reflects the people it governs. It reflects their beliefs and values. Therefore, the solution lies in the people returning to belief in God. Unfortunately, they won’t do that without motivation.
Very soon God will provide this motivation. America is headed for destruction. The Bible says that a time is coming when God will judge the world for its sinful behavior and giving itself over to evil. This judgment will include much pain, death, and destruction. The Bible says that some people will return to God as a result. However, many will not.
Therefore, it would be wise to turn to God for help in our lives before the day of His judgment. That would be the best solution.
