This Proverb says, “Keeping away from strife is an honor for a man, but any fool will quarrel.” I have found in my life that quarreling or arguing is fruitless. It doesn’t produce or result in anything good. It just promotes anger and resentment.
We all have differences of opinion, and we sometimes feel compelled to express or our opinions or positions on an issue. I don’t believe that expressing one’s opinion is wrong, if it is done in a gentle and positive way. However, one should not let it lead to an argument. If another person disagrees with our opinion, that is OK. At least the other person will know where we stand on an issue.
America today is a divided country. Half of the country is liberal, and half of the country is conservative. The beliefs of each group are radically different. I personally am conservative and believe in Christian values. These values are frequently at odds with the liberals. There is much potential for argument and quarreling.
It seems to me that the liberal half does not exhibit much restraint when it comes to arguing or anger. However, the conservative side is more restrained and does not tend to argue or fight back. I believe the conservative side should not argue in in destructive way. However, they should not be afraid to make their position known.
