This Proverb speaks of God granting wisdom, understanding, and knowledge to those who walk rightly before Him. Such people are then enabled to resist and avoid the paths of evil that are prevalent in this world.

Specifically, this Proverb says, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding. He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice; And He preserves the way of His godly ones. Then you will discern righteousness and justice and equity and every good thing. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. Discretion will guide you; Understanding will watch over you, to deliver you from the way of evil, from the man who speaks perverse things; From those who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the way of darkness, who delight in the ways of darkness; Who delight in doing evil and rejoice in the perversity of evil; whose paths are crooked and who devise their own ways.”

Evil is pervasive on the Earth because Satan and his demons are active in turning people away from God. The Bible says that our only defense in this spiritual battle is to live according to the Word of God, the Bible. However, we must be able to understand the knowledge that the Bible provides. Then, we must apply this knowledge with wisdom that only God can provide. The Bible says that God will grant wisdom to those who ask Him for it. The Bible says, “Ask and you will receive.” This is true. Try it. What do you have to lose?
