These passages contain two Proverbs. The first Proverb says, “He also who is slack in his work is brother to him who destroys.” The Bible indicates that God does not want us to be lazy. Rather, He wants His people to be diligent and give their best effort to whatever they undertake. The Bible says, “Whatever you do, do it as unto the Lord.”

God cares about what we do, and He is involved in giving us our tasks. The Bible also says, “The Lord directs our steps and establishes our plans.” Therefore, we should realize that God is watching and assessing our efforts on His behalf.

If we are lazy or slack with what we do, we are actually acting contrary to what the Lord requires of us. In so doing we are committing a sin. When we sin we are acting in a destructive manner. This is certainly worth considering when we undertake a task.

The second Proverb says, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous runs into it and is safe.” What is ‘the name of the Lord?’ When we pray ‘in Jesus’ name’ what does that mean.

I believe ‘in Jesus name’ equates to ‘in accordance with the Word of God.’ The Bible says that Jesus is ‘the living Word of God.’ Therefore, we can rightly equate Jesus’ name with the Word of God. With that perspective, we can understand this Proverb to say that those who reside in the name of the Lord are actually residing in God’s Word. God’s Word becomes their ‘strong tower.’ A person is safe when they reside within that strong tower.
