This Proverb says, “Why is there a price in the hand of a fool to buy wisdom, when he has no sense?” There are things that money cannot buy. In fact, money cannot buy the things that have real value. Among these are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
The Bible calls these things of real value the fruits of the Holy Spirit. A person cannot enjoy these fruits unless the Holy Spirit resides within them. Furthermore a person cannot have the Holy Spirit within them unless they first believe in Jesus Christ.
Wisdom is also something of true value that money cannot buy. A person cannot have wisdom unless they first believe in and fear God. The Bible says, “The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom.”
A fool cannot have wisdom because a fool does not believe in God. Furthermore, a fool cannot have the fruits of the Holy Spirit because they do not believe in Jesus Christ. A fool can be the wealthiest person in the world. However, they cannot buy the things that have real value.
Therefore, if a person desires to be wise and enjoy the fruits of the Holy Spirit they must believe in God and His Son, Jesus Christ. They must live their lives according to the Word of God, the Bible. Then, God will see them as being righteous and not foolish. Then they will enjoy the things of true value. More importantly, they will be on the pathway that leads to Heaven.
