This Proverb says, “The thoughts of the righteous are just, but the counsels of the wicked are deceitful. The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, but the mouth of the upright will deliver them. The wicked are overthrown and are no more, but the house of the righteous will stand.”

These passages contrast a righteous and a wicked person’s thoughts and words. The righteous person seeks to help, encourage, and motivate other people. Whereas, a wicked person plots and schemes to hurt others. A righteous person sees good in other people and speaks to others about those good attributes. Whereas, a wicked person focuses on the bad and may be inclined to gossip about others.

Both the righteous and the wicked person will gain reputations that reflect their true character. Therefore, when a righteous person encounters trouble in their life, they will likely receive help and encouragement from others. In this regard, the mouth of the righteous will indeed deliver them.

Whereas, a wicked person will not be helped during their times of trouble. As this Proverb indicates, they will be overthrown and cease to exist. On the other hand, the house of the righteous will stand. The righteous person will survive the storms of life.
