This Proverb says, “In the way of righteousness is life, and in its pathway there is no death.”
The Bible indicates that there are two kinds of life, and there are two kinds of death. There is physical life and death. There is also spiritual life and death. During our tenure on this Earth we are physically alive. This means that our soul is united with our body. When we physically die, our soul is separated from our body.
What then is spiritual life and spiritual death? Spiritual life means that our soul is united with God through Jesus Christ. The Bible says that ‘Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father but through Him.’
How then can we become spiritually united with Jesus Christ? The Bible says we must believe in Jesus to be united with Him. We must repent of our sins and live our lives according to God’s Word. Doing that validates our belief in Him, and God then declares us to be righteous. If we physically die in this state, our soul will be united with God forever. We will be allowed into Heaven with all believers.
The Bible also says that if we refuse to believe in Jesus, we will be spiritually dead. This means that our soul will be separated from God. Unfortunately, if we physically die in that spiritual condition, we will be separated from God for all eternity. We will be assigned to Hell with all non-believers.
