This Proverb says, “Truthful lips will be established forever, but a lying tongue is only for a moment. Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil, but counselors of peace will have joy.”

The Bible indicates that honesty is truly the best policy. God honors those who tell the truth. Those who believe in God and live according to God’s Word are more inclined to always tell the truth. Whereas, those who do not live by the Word of God will tend to lie when it serves their own purpose.

The Bible says that Satan is the father of lies. Lies and deception characterize Satan. Therefore, as the world’s spiritual ruler, he influences the world to do the same.

Today we are witnessing Satan’s influence growing stronger and stronger. As a result, lies are becoming more pervasive. We are becoming bombarded with lies from our government leaders and the news media. It is becoming more difficult to separate the lies from the truth. What then are we to do?

As always, the best remedy is to trust in God and become well-grounded in the Word of God, the Bible. More than ever, the Bible needs to become our guiding light in this deceptive world. The Word of God is the Truth. Our only hope is to cling to this Truth.

The Bible says that God’s Truth will endure forever. Whereas, Satan’s lies and deceptions will be destroyed. When Jesus returns He will establish Truth and remove deception and lies. That is a truth on which we can rely.
