In this daily Bible reading God instructs Moses to tell Israel to drive out all the inhabitants of the land they will possess and to destroy all their religious items: Images, high places, artifacts. God said that if anybody remained, they would become “as pricks in your eyes and as thorns in your sides, and they shall trouble you in the land in which you live. And it shall come about that as I plan to do to them, so I will do to you.”
Later we see that Israel did leave some of the inhabitants and their religious artifacts. Eventually, all of Israel turned away from God and worshiped the idols of the land. Israel did not spiritually arm itself to resist Satan and his ploys.
More importantly, Israel did not teach their children about the one true God. We see this today in America. Families have disintegrated and stopped teaching their children spiritual truths. I fear God will punish America like He punished Israel, because America has turned away from God.
