In this daily Bible reading God told Moses and Eleazar, the son of Aaron, to take a census of Israel of all the males 20 years old and upward, those able to go out to war. Here are the results:
Reuben – 43,730 Ephraim – 32,500
Simeon – 22,200 Benjamin – 45,600
Gad – 40,500 Dan – 64,400
Judah – 76,500 Asher – 53,400
Zebulun – 60,500 Naphtali – 45,400
Manasseh – 52,700 Issachar 64,300 Total-601,730
From this census I noticed a couple of things. The tribes with the largest population were Judah-76,500. And Joseph (Ephraim and Manasseh) – 85,200. Secondly, I noticed that Israel’s population at the beginning and end of the Exodus was about the same.
