In this daily Bible reading is the account of the people grumbling against Moses and Aaron for causing the deaths of the people who rebelled against Moses and Aaron. Their grumblings displeased God. So, God intended to kill all who were complaining. God started a plague that killed many (14,700 people).  However, Moses interceded for the people, and the plague was checked.

God then performed a sign which validated His selection of Aaron to be God’s Priest. Each of the tribal leaders placed a wooden rod or staff before the Tabernacle. Aaron placed his rod there as well. In the morning, the people saw that Aaron’s rod had budded with almond blossoms and even had ripe almonds on it. The people then were reminded that Aaron was God’s choice as High Priest. God was determined to stop the grumblings and complaints of Israel. God demanded obedience. He also demanded the proper attitude.

I believe that today, God still wants obedience. He also wants the right attitude toward Him. The Bible says that ‘we are to love God with all of our hearts, with all of our minds, with all of our strength and with all of our soul.’ God wants such people to be with Him in Heaven. Those who do not have this attitude will probably not be allowed into heaven.
