In this daily Bible reading is the account of Ezra, the priest, reading the Law of Moses to the people. As Ezra read, the other priests and Levites circulated among the people. They taught the people the meaning of the words that Ezra read. The people rejoiced with their understanding and praised God.

This account demonstrates the need for people with understanding and insight teach the Word of God to others.  The Bible says that ‘Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.’ Therefore, it is essential to hear the Word of God instead of just reading it.

I personally came to believe the truth of the Bible by listening to good Bible teachers.  As I drove to work each day I would listen to their radio programs. I listened to scripture passages being read and excellent teaching to unfold the meaning of those passages.

This was very effective for me, and I came to believe the Bible is the absolute truth. After gaining this belief, reading the Bible was a delight for me. God’s Truths literally leaped off pages for me.

I have been reading the Bible daily ever since I first believed it to be true. It has become for me ‘my daily bread, my spiritual food.’ It is a ‘lamp to my feet and a light to my path.’  The Bible sustains me and it guides me.
