In this daily Bible reading is the account of Jesus going to the region of Tyre. While there He was approached by a Phoenician woman who asked Jesus to cast a demon from her daughter. Jesus’ response to her was, “Let the children be satisfied first, for it is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” By this response, Jesus was telling the woman that He came into the world for the Jews. The Jews were God’s chosen race, and they had departed from God. God still loved the Jews and sent Jesus into the world to restore the Jews to fellowship with God.

The woman responded to Jesus: “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs under the table feed on the children’s crumbs.” Because of this response, Jesus healed her child. Even though the woman was not a Jew, she had great Faith in Jesus and believed He could heal her child.

Faith is essential if we want to be healed of spiritual sickness. All of mankind is spiritually sick. The only remedy for this sickness is to believe in Jesus and have Faith that He will heal us.

Even though Jesus came primarily for the Jews, we who are not Jews can be healed as well. The Bible says that the Gospel is “The power of God for Salvation to the Jew first but also to the Greek.” All can be healed if they believe in and have Faith in Jesus.
