In this daily Bible reading is the account of Jesus healing many people and casting out demons. In so doing Jesus became quite famous. People came to Him to be healed. Crowds gathered around Him wherever He went, and it was difficult for Him to find any privacy.

On one occasion a paralytic was brought to Jesus while Jesus was in Peter’s home. The crowd was so large that the paralytic person had to be lowered through a hole in Peter’s roof. Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, “My son, your sins are forgiven.” Some of the religious scribes in the crowd were offended. They were thinking that Jesus was blaspheming, because only God can forgive sins. Jesus read their thoughts and told them that He had the authority to forgive sins on Earth. Jesus then illustrated this fact by healing the paralytic.

The Bible says that God has given Jesus authority to forgive sins. The Bible also says that Jesus is the only way to Salvation. Our sins can be forgiven because Jesus’ shed blood on the cross paid the price for our sins. However, we must believe in Jesus in order to be forgiven of our sins. Our belief must be validated by how we live our lives. We must live according to Jesus’ guidance, which is only found in the Bible.
