In this daily Bible reading God speaks through Malachi about preparing the Earth for the ‘Day of the Lord,’ Jesus’ Millennial Kingdom on the Earth. It is interesting that these passages were written before Jesus came to the Earth the first time.
God speaks of the Prophet Elijah returning to restore the hearts of the people which had departed from God. Some people believe that John the Baptist was the reincarnated Elijah. However, John the Baptist himself said that he was not Elijah. The Bible says that Elijah did not die. He was taken to Heaven alive. I believe that Elijah will return just prior to Jesus’ returning to be King.
The Bible speaks of two witnesses who will appear in Jerusalem during the Great Tribulation. They will speak for God, telling the world God’s Truths. They will have miraculous powers and will not be silenced. I believe that Elijah will be one of these witnesses. Their words will likely be televised and heard by the masses.
I believe that many people will repent of their sins when they hear the words spoken by these witnesses. As a result, many will believe in Jesus just before He returns.
